Family letters, business correspondence, literary criticism, and draft copies of poems document the work of poet Virginia Lachicotte Wilson; including correspondence, ca. 1936, with officials of The Galleon Press, Inc., re publication of The Runaway Path and Other Poems and her efforts to establish copyright privileges following the bankruptcy of the publishing company. Places discussed include Manning, Waverly Mills, and Pawley's Island, S.C., and New York, N.Y. Other items include letter and poem, 30 May 1941, mailed to Winston Churchill, recalling the Battle of Britain; reproductions of a 1976 poem, "De Gahden Club," by Florence Ward Lachicotte, re the Waccamaw Garden Club; and biographical information on South Carolina state senators David D. Wilson (1790-1868), of Williamsburg District, and John Isaac Ingram (1820-1888), of Clarendon District. Bound volumes include notebooks containing draft copies of poems and sketches of her childhood in Manning, including voume, 1915, commencement program, Clemson Agricultural and Mechanical College; volume, 2 Mar. - 7 June 1942, daily journal; volume, 16 Jan. 1932, notebooks containing draft copies of poems and letters to Henry Bellamann; and volume, 1970, commencement program, The Citadel.
